OAC Committee 2003-2004

committee mug President : Gareth Hughes
(president@luoac.co.uk)

2nd-year History

Gareth's probably got the easiest job of the lot, approving any decisions, and any other job gets delegated to someone else.

How to spot him:He's normally the one asleep, having quietly delegated all the jobs to other people.

committee mug
Vicky Whibley
(social_sec@luoac.co.uk)

2nd-year Archelogy

How to spot her: Red is the second in command and the energetic Fraggle with overwhelming enthusiasm. She is very athletic and also jealous of Gobo (Gaz?). She always tries to get all the Fraggles to have parties and celebrations. She is all about having fun! Red is very optimistic, meaning she is constantly up for a challenge and will never quit. She's the one up the front outdoing the guys.

committee mug Vice-President : Rebecca Hellyer
(vice_president@luoac.co.uk)

2nd-year Civil Engineer

Rebecca does Gareth's job when he's not around, and has the extra hassle of organising the trip to Scotland at New Year. Proven many times to be the hardest job there is.

How to spot her: At the back of most walks, in a fit of giggles!

committee mug Secretary : Penny Firshman
(secretary@luoac.co.uk)

Employed elsewhere

It's Penny's job to keep things under control at committee meetings. Which means stopping people from talking about what they got up to at the weekend, or what's on TV later, when they should be talking committee things. Also books hostels, camping barns and minibuses, so part of the blame goes to her when you're shivering your way through the night in your cold sleeping bag.

How to spot her: She's the Bubbly one, who'll still be smiling and chating even tho you're lost and about to be carted off the hill by the mountain rescue.

committee mug Treasurer : Will Gillett
(treasurer@luoac.co.uk)

2nd-year Geography

Will keeps track of the club's money, and comes to the board once a week with a sheet full of numbers which only he will understand, but expects everyone else to understand as well.

How to spot him: The cool, silent cucumber, even hanging by one hand on a cliff edge, not a bead of sweat to be seen. Falling through ice half way up a mountain is another story tho..

committee mug Membership Sec : Julian Laisney
(membership_sec@luoac.co.uk)

Julian's always out for an all inclusive party - Those membership forms you filled in and forgot to sign the declarations, and those weekly emails - they're Julian's job. He only does it really to get the free copies of the "Summit" magazine every month.

How to spot him: Julian's out there - with the eye for getting everyone involved in a party, to produce a result - just wait for the invite.

  Social Secs :

Its up to Vicky and Jasmin to make sure you all mix, and explore the other side of fellwalking, Vicky assures me that this includes the sticky dance floor in the Razz in town - not too sure about the fresh air element of that though.

committee mug Jasmin Paris
(social_sec@luoac.co.uk)

2nd-year Vet

How to spot her:Jasmine has an unlimited supply of energy - so she'll normally be the pair of legs thats charging up the hill way in front of you.

committee mug Publicity Sec : David Jones
(publicity_sec@luoac.co.uk)

Physics Phd.

It's Davids job to make sure you all know what's going on, to design major works of art to astound you, and to keep this website up to date.

How to spot him: The one taking the hardest route up the hardest mountain (and taking photos all the time, whether there's a view or not - then asking where we are..

committee mug Man Will the Equipment Equipment Sec : Zophia Lisowski

The equipment sec's job is to get the kit bag ready for each walk, put the right maps in, bring some blank route sheets, then take it all home again at the end of the day. You get full access to the hallowed OAC Cupboard!
Zof - is the first female equipment sec in the clubs 67 year history - we're not that socially backward honest.

How to spot her -Look out for the face - there's a body to go with it (Please find another photo...)

committee mug Ordinary Member : Wendy Power
(ordinary@luoac.co.uk)

2nd Year Nurse

The Ordinary members, are the down to earth people who support the committee, and end up doing most of the work when other members find they've got to much else to do.

How to spot her: Look for the New Zealand backpacker who's doing the European tour, - Only she's from Devon.

BCH Honorary Member :Briony Harvey
(honorary@luoac.co.uk)

4th Year Geologist

How to spot her: Wait to hear the acid wit/cheek, or the geologica l lecture when she spies a good looking rock.

committee mug Honorary Member :Jane Dowden
(honorary@luoac.co.uk)

PGCE Manchester

Honorary Members are the clubs 'Angels' who've shone on the Committee in the past, and have attempted to fly away to do higher things - they're the ones who should have the sanity to point the club in the right direction when the committee decide it would be a go idea to do a three legged race accoss 'Crib Goch', or blow the entire grant, on a party...
How to spot her:Jane's in Manchester, so you're unlikely to spot her - but if you're luck y look out for the most comic hat hidding flowing carrot locks; Watch out for thoose 'Alice' moments too.
