President : Gareth Evans (president@luoac.co.uk)
1st-year Hispanic Studies
Gareth's probably got the easiest job of the lot, approving any decisions, and any other job
gets delegated to someone else.
How to spot him: The last one back to the bus at the end of the day.

 |
Vice-President : Jane Dowden (vice_president@luoac.co.uk)
2nd-year History
Jane does Gareth's job when he's not around, and has the extra hassle of organising the
trip to Scotland at New Year. Proven many times to be the hardest job there is.
How to spot her: Wearing some kind of comedy hat!

 |
Secretary : Briony Harvey (secretary@luoac.co.uk)
2nd-year Geology
It's Briony's job to keep things under control at committee meetings. Which means stopping people
from talking about what they got up to at the weekend, or what's on TV later, when they should
be talking committee things. Also books hostels, camping barns and minibuses, so part of the
blame goes to her when you're shivering your way through the night in your cold sleeping bag.
How to spot her: The one who always stops and says, "oh look, an interesting
rock!"

 |
Treasurer : Matt Rowberry (treasurer@luoac.co.uk)
2nd-year Geography
Matt keeps track of the club's money, and comes to the board once a week with a sheet full of
numbers which only he will understand, but expects everyone else to understand as well.
How to spot him: In true Treasurer tradition, you'll probably never see Matt.

 |
Membership Sec : Iain Jones (membership_sec@luoac.co.uk)
2nd-year Combined Honours (Geography & Maths)
Those membership forms you filled in and forgot to sign the declarations, and those weekly
emails - they're Iain's job. He only does it really to get the free copies of the
"Summit" magazine every month.
How to spot him: The one taking the hardest route up the hardest mountain (just
ask Fausto or Jane about Striding Edge), and taking photos all the time, whether there's a view
or not.
|
| |
 |
Social Sec : Penny Firshman (social_sec@luoac.co.uk)
2nd-year Psychology
Penny decides where we go every Tuesday night, be it a pub crawl or ice skating. Due to public
demand (maybe), she's bringing the Smithdown Ten back to the trip list (hopefully).
How to spot her: In her own words, "The Looney".
|
| |
 |
Publicity Sec : Fausto Sainz (publicity_sec@luoac.co.uk)
PhD at John Moores
Fausto makes the posters you see around Liverpool every week advertising the next exciting walks
and socials, and also maintains this website. Be prepared to see loads of his photos here!
How to spot him: The mad Spanish guy with a digital camera.

 |
Safety Officer : Stephen Johnston (safety_officer@luoac.co.uk)
1st-year Physics
Contending with Gareth to have the easiest job on the committee. Stephen is supposed to read
the saftey policy and make any necessary changes, but since we're such a perfect club it doesn't
need changing, does it?!
|
| |
 |
Equipment Sec : IT COULD BE YOU!
The equipment sec's job is to get the kit bag ready for each walk, put the right maps in,
bring some blank route sheets, then take it all home again at the end of the day. You get
full access to the hallowed OAC Cupboard!
This job is currently available - if you're interested, speak to Gareth, who was
equipment sec last year and is carrying on until someone takes over.

 |
Ordinary Member : Sarah York (ordinary@luoac.co.uk)
3rd-year Medic
Sarah is the "member without portfolio" - basically she's on the committee but has no
official job, instead she just helps out with other jobs, and organises some of the trips.
There's never too many ordinary members so if you want a place on the committee (it looks good
on your CV) but don't want to do much work, apply at your local OAC noticeboard now!
How to spot her: Being a busy 4th-year medic next year you might not see Sarah much.
But if you do, she's the one jumping along rather than walking.
