COMMITTEE 2011-2012

President : Jack Williams
(president@luoac.co.uk)

3rd Year Geologist

This job is to be the figurehead of the club - to make decisions, and ensure the work needed to make things happen has been done effectively or delegated to someone else. However should anything go wrong, its his fault!

How to spot him:

Jack can normally be found looking at rocks, throw them at him to get his attention. Sadly his bright orange waterproof jacket has been retired, shame really as it was the most exciting thing about him.

Vice-President : Rob Thompson
(vice_president@luoac.co.uk)

2nd Year Architect

The Vice-President has the mega task of organising our fabulous New Years trip to Scotland - quite a responsibility - after that they only have to pick up the pieces when the president's not around.

How to spot him:

When Rob tells us what he wants here, we'll update this section!

Secretary : Harriet Nerva
(secretary@luoac.co.uk)

4th Year Medic

The Secretary's responsible for booking things, the club's paperwork, keeping records of meetings, - all the hard jobs that no one else wants to do, but are essential for the club to run smoothly.

How to spot her:

A description of Harriet still eludes us! There's just so much to describe!

Treasurer : Chris Davis
(treasurer@luoac.co.uk)

3rd Year Architect

The treasurer has to keep track of the clubs finances- making sure our money gets put into the correct places - and then vanishes...

How to spot him:

Chris can normally be found on walks at the back of the group with his eye stuck to his camera's viewfinder. He insists he's taking pictures of the lovely scenery but sometimes we're just not sure. A country man born and bred, there is nothing he appreciates more than a roast beef with all the trimmings, a game of croquet, and of course a nice refreshing walk!

Social Sec : IT COULD BE YOU!
(social_sec@luoac.co.uk)

The job of the social sec is to ensure that they and everyone in the vicinity has some form of alcohol inside them and more in the hand. They need to be enthusiastic, up for anything and ready to convince people that ideas such as the Smithdown 5-legged and forest night walks with only one head-torch, are really good fun.

How to spot him/her:

We haven't got a social secretary yet! If you feel up for the task give Jack an email on president@luoac.co.uk

Publicity Sec : Robert Normanton
(publicity_sec@luoac.co.uk)

4th Year Medic

The publicity sec has to create wonderful posters, and keep this website up to date - in theory, the one person who should know what's going on...

How to spot him:

You'll probably hear Robert before you see him, either murdering a Queen classic or wailing along to some nineties cheese. You can also be sure that if you hear some S Club 7 or Bewitched playing then he won't be too far away.

Training & Safety Officer : Mark Smith
(training_officer@luoac.co.uk)

3rd Year Engineer

The club has a safety policy in order to prevent people getting carried away with what they attempt on the hill and/or on socials, and to ensure everyone is properly equipped. It's the Safety Officer's job to ensure the policy is up to date, and observed. They also organise training sessions throughout the year to help people improve on map reading and other skills.

How to spot him:

Maybe he likes his sleep, or he's just worried we might not make it down at the end of the day. Either way Mark can be found with a very large rucksack containing his sleeping bag which accompanies him on every trip!

Equipment Sec : Mark Smith
(equipment_sec@luoac.co.uk)

3rd year Engineer

The club has a hoard of equipment, some dating back to the start of the club in 1936 - this is hidden deep in the guild... It's the equipment secretary's job to maintain and update this, and ensure whatevers needed for a trip is brought along.

How to spot him:

Still with the big rucksack...

Honorary : Grant Mealyou
(honorary1@luoac.co.uk)

Honorary Members are the clubs 'Angels' who've shone on the Committee in the past, and have attempted to fly away to do higher things - they're the ones who should have the sanity to point the club in the right direction when the committee decide it would be a go idea to do a three legged race accross 'Crib Goch', or blow the entire grant, on a party...

How to spot him:

When we think of something to write about Grant this is where it'll go!

Honorary : Rosie Lyle
(honorary2@luoac.co.uk)

4th Year Vet

How to spot her:

Most people think she's speaking a foreign language the first time they meet her, but it's just a strong Yorkshire accent that can take a while to decipher!

Honorary : Hannah Bradon
(honorary3@luoac.co.uk)

4th Year Vet

How to spot her:

Going uphill she'll be found at the back, arms crossed and leaning forward. We don't know why. She also likes to sing whilst walking, much to the dismay of the local wildlife...

Honorary : Anna Fleming
(honorary4@luoac.co.uk)

How to spot her:

Anna like's swimming in freezing cold lakes and rivers. It's not a pretty sight and we try not to encourage her.
